The present study aimed to determine the influence of the Design Thinking methodology on mathematical problem solving in five-year-old children at the initial education level of an educational institution in the district of Chorrillos during 2025. The study was conducted under a quantitative approach, of an applied type, with a pre-experimental design, using a single group with measurements taken before and after the intervention. The sample consisted of 15 students, and the instrument used was a checklist validated through expert judgment. The pedagogical proposal was organized into five phases of Design Thinking: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and evaluate, with the purpose of strengthening children’s abilities to understand, plan, execute, and verify the solution in mathematical problem solving. The results showed a significant increase in achievement levels across all evaluated dimensions between the pre-test and post-test, with the dimensions of problem comprehension and examining the solution standing out, showing an improvement of 86.67%. In conclusion, it was evidenced that the application of the Design Thinking methodology favored the development of mathematical problem-solving skills in children, promoting active, meaningful, and contextualized learning.
