The purpose of this study is to measure the level of improvement in English oral expression among fourth-grade secondary students through the application of the Task Based Learning (TBL) method. The study was conducted under a quantitative approach, applied type, and with a pre-experimental single-group design, using a pretest and posttest to assess the dimensions of fluency, discourse management, and interactive communication. The intervention consisted of twelve sessions based on authentic and contextualized communicative tasks. The results showed statistically significant improvements in all evaluated dimensions: fluency, discourse management, and interactive communication. Furthermore, 80% of the students reached high and very high levels in the posttest related to oral expression, in contrast to the predominantly low initial levels. It is concluded that the implementation of the TBL method contributed positively to the development of oral expression, consolidating itself as an effective pedagogical strategy to enhance communicative skills in English within public school contexts.
