Abstract
The research focused on explaining how Problem-Based Learning (PBL) through hypothesis formulation, data search, to show results that can be used and that influence the strengthening of critical thinking in high school students. The methodology of PBL was explored, the role of the teacher in the implementation of this methodology was identified, and the characteristics and components of critical thinking were examined. The study was based on a qualitative approach and a documentary design, using data triangulation to analyze and interpret the results. It is concluded that PBL is an effective methodology for promoting critical thinking in high school students, as students become protagonists of their own learning, achieving a better understanding of the topic and developing skills such as critical analysis, problem solving, argumentation, and decision making.
