Abstract
In an educational context that promotes competency-based learning for students’ holistic development, it is essential to address the conditions that hinder such progress. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of an experiential learning program in improving the achievement level of the competency "Maneja responsablemente el espacio y el ambiente" among third-grade secondary students at the "Los Héroes de San Juan" school. The study followed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. A questionnaire was administered before and after the intervention to measure the competency level. The hypothesis test was conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) with a t-paired sample test, yielding a result of p = 0.00000002741, which is statistically significant (p < 0.01). The results indicate a significant improvement in the competency achievement level. It is concluded that experiential learning fosters an active understanding of reality and transforms students into participatory, critical, and responsible agents in the management of space and the environment.
