Abstract
contextual.
Tis study aims to analyze citizen science as a participatory approach that contributes to the development of scientific skills in educational contexts. A qualitative documentary approach was used, allowing the review, interpretation, and comparison of academic sources related to citizen science projects implemented in science learning among Basic Education students. The analysis revealed that these projects engage students in real research processes, reinforcing the understanding of science as a social and contextualized practice. Additionally, different classifications of citizen science projects were examined, highlighting contributory, collaborative, and co-created models, whose levels of participation influence the depth of scientific learning. Regarding methodology, essential components were identified, including rigorous planning, ethical considerations, appropriate data management, and collaboration among educational and scientific actors. These elements ensure the validity of the processes and promote meaningful learning experiences. Finally, the study concludes that citizen science supports the development of fundamental scientific skills such as systematic observation, data collection and analysis, interpretation of information, and critical thinking. This participatory approach strengthens the connection between theory and practice and enhances students’ engagement with their immediate context.
