Abstract
The purpose of this research was to analyze the contributions of the Kodály method to the development of oral expression in early childhood education, based on a documentary review of studies, theories, and specialized sources. The problem arises from the frequent difficulties observed in children’s oral language—such as limited vocabulary, low fluency, shyness when speaking, and articulation problems—reported in both national and international studies. In response to these challenges, the literature highlights that music, particularly the Kodály method, serves as an effective pedagogical tool to strengthen auditory perception, verbal imitation, phonological memory, and the coordination between sound and movement, all of which are essential for oral expression. This study was conducted using a qualitative approach and a documentary design, which allowed for the systematization and comparison of research related to oral expression and musical strategies derived from the Kodály method. The analysis shows that key components of the method singing, rhythm, body movement, melodic echo, and rhythmic syllables significantly contribute to improving articulation, expanding vocabulary, enhancing verbal fluency, and promoting spontaneous communication. It is concluded that the Kodály method offers strong theoretical and pedagogical foundations to enrich teaching practices in early childhood education and to foster oral language development through playful, meaningful, and culturally relevant experiences.
