Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of the Task-Based Learning (TBL) approach on the development of reading comprehension in English among primary school students. The research follows a qualitative, documentary design and is grounded in the review, selection, and triangulation of various academic sources, including scientific articles, previous studies, and specialized literature on language teaching. The findings show that TBL is a highly effective methodology for strengthening reading comprehension, as it promotes meaningful activities that engage students in authentic and contextualized tasks. These tasks help activate prior knowledge, expand vocabulary, improve reading fluency, and enhance higher-order cognitive skills such as interpretation, analysis, inference, and textual decoding. Documentary triangulation reveals consistent results across the analyzed studies, which highlight that the three stages of TBL facilitate comprehensive language processing and increase student motivation. Likewise, it was identified that this approach supports both global and detailed comprehension of English texts by fostering reflective engagement. Finally, the study concludes that the systematic application of TBL represents a relevant pedagogical strategy for improving reading comprehension at the primary level.
